you'll never be the same again!!! No, there's no reference to anything other than whipped cream! That's right, the wonderfully fluffy white diary product that you can get almost in any supermarket, hypermarket, what-ever-market you care to mention.
My fond memory of whipped cream is during those stressful examination periods during my undergraduate days (mind you, I had extra exams since I did six years worth of exams for two degrees!) when I used to save up some money to get the spray cans filled with delicious whipped cream. No preparation needed, didn't bother with any fruits or added ingredients,... just pure unadulterated whipped cream, sprayed directly into the mouth and downed with a glass of full cream milk. You could say I indulged in dairy products to the fullest when I spent my youth in Sydney.... mmmmm... chocolate eclairs, custard tarts, pavlova cakes, mmmmm.....
Needless to say, it was an experience that I wanted to pass down to my kids... and boy did they enjoy it! The following pics provide the evidence.... hehehehe...
The following is the non-conventional way of eating "roti canai"....
Adam loving every bit of it! :-)
A more healthier version... cream and berries!!
Strawberries and blueberries... mmmmm....
Alissa doing the 'dirty deed'! She looks so mischievous here...
The final product... ermm... where's the rest? What? There is no "the rest"??? Ahh..... pure dairy...
Adam wearing the smile...
Sofiya wearing the smile...
Alissa tucking in....
... guess you were wondering where the pictures of myself and Nurul are? Well, I firmly held on to the camera... suffice to say that I was grinning from ear to ear! :-D
A belated wish... well it is considered late since it started yesterday, for all the Muslims out there who are celebrating this right now... from all of us, to all of you. Eid Mubarak!
"Selamat Hari Raya Aidilfitri Maaf Zahir dan Batin"
This is a picture of Adam, all ready to go for Eid prayers. All the others are still fast asleep. This year, Adam and I went to the Titi Kerbau Mosque for the prayers.
The loving ladies of my life! They make me smile, laugh, cry, happy, and sad at the same time. :-)
err... pic of me?!!!
Me and the kids.... Alissa doesn't look this bad in real life. ;-)
My first born is now taller than her pregnant (twins) grand aunt!
Such a sweet smile Alissa!
At Nurul's aunt's new house...
Us!
Us again.... sheesh... need to get a DSLR next...!!! :-D
I came across this graphic in Facebook, and wanted to share it here... From the looks of it, it is a newspaper cutting... from where? I don't know...
I think it is everything that all parents and adults want to say, but cannot string enough words together to emphasise the point without getting all riled up. Myself, I would like all my students to read this... if you don't wake up know, it will be a rough awakening after you complete your studies.
However, I think it does not only just apply to teenagers... I know of a few adults who need to "wake up" too... ;-P
Some have asked me about the title change to this blog from "My Legacy: Faisal Zulhumadi" to "Faisal Zulhumadi: Fingerprints...". Why not footprints? Or some other catchy terms or phrases that has similar meaning to leaving something behind. Well, to tell you the truth, it was because of a song. Yes, you guessed it, it is called "Fingerprints" by Katy Perry. I know, some of her other songs are perhaps, err... how shall I put it... erm... nah, I won't even attempt to label them, but this particular song struck a chord in me, and it has been a source of inspiration during times of perspiration. The lyrics says it all, and the music presents it beautifully. I play it over and over during times of stress and struggle, especially when getting reports done. Anyways, here it is in its fullest:
Voted most likely to end up on the back of a milk box drink
Looks like I'm letting them down
Cause seven, seventy-five isn't worth an hour of my hard work and time
When you can't afford half the s*** they advertise
Oh I'm worth more then they ask for than the toe-tag generation full of regrets
Oh I won't settle no, oh I can't settle
I wanna break the mold, I wanna break the stereotype
Fist in the air I'm not going down without a fight
It's my life and I'm not sitting on the sidelines watching
It pass me by
I'm leaving you my legacy
I gotta make my mark
I gotta run it hard
I want you to remember me
I'm leaving my fingerprints
I'm leaving my fingerprints
I'm leaving my fingerprints on you
Representing you and me
Don't you wanna go down in history?
Rather then end up begging on the streets
Trading under table favors for a place to sleep
Cause I'm worth more then this so stop writing prescriptions for my Ritalin
I can't focus
My attention
I wanna break the mold, I wanna break the stereotype
Fist in the air I'm not going down with out a fight
It's my life and I'm not sitting on the sidelines watching
It pass me by
I'm leaving you my legacy
I gotta make my mark
I gotta run it hard
I want you to remember me
I'm leaving my fingerprints
I'm leaving my fingerprints
Don't give up
Don't give in
Build your house on the rock
Oh not in the sand, in the sand, in the sand
It's my life and I'm not sitting on the sidelines watching
It pass me by
I'm leaving you my legacy
I gotta make my mark
I gotta run it hard
I want you to remember me
(I want you to remember me)
It's my life and I'm not sitting on the sidelines watching
It pass me by
I'm leaving you my legacy
I gotta make my mark
I gotta run it hard
I want you to remember me
Cause I'm leaving my fingerprints
I'm leaving my fingerprints
I'm leaving my fingerprints, in the end
I came across this graphic, which had been shared many times over in Facebook, to the point I know not of its origin. However, its message hits home, so I want to share it here. If anyone knows the history, please comment. Thanks.
As of today, 20 days done, only 10 more days to go for the glorious month of Ramadhan. All Muslims will be hoping to able to achieve the Night of nights (from Wiki):
'Lailatul Qadr' (Arabic: لیلة القدر) (also known as Shab-e-Qadr), the Night of Destiny, Night of Power, Night of Value, the Night of Decree or Night of Measures, is the anniversary of the night Muslims believe the first verses of the Quran were revealed to the Islamic prophetMuhammad (SAW). Muslims often pray extra prayers on this day, particularly thenight prayer. They awake, pray, and hope God will give them anything they may desire on this night. Mostly, they performtilawat(reading the Quran).
Those who can afford to devote their time in the remembrance of God stay in the mosque for the final ten days of Ramadan. This worship is called Iʿtikāf(retreat). They observe a fast during the day and occupy themselves with the remembrance of God, performing voluntary prayers and studying the Quran, day and night, apart from the obligatory prayers which they perform with the congregation. Food and other necessities of life are provided for them during their stay in the mosque. Devoting time to remember God, Muslims also hope to receive divine favors and blessings connected with Lailat ul-Qadr.
This was taken from a Facebook entry (in the Malay language, and translated by me!), shared by countless FB friends: "..History - picture of the Sultan contained in our (Malaysian) currency notes.....copy/paste/ share/like/blog/post/email/mms - keep sharing for the our future generations..."
ORIGINS OF THE SULTAN ON OUR CURRENCY NOTES
On Malaysian currency notes, the face of the first Malaysian Agong, Tuanku Abdul Rahman Tuanku Muhammad from Negeri Sembilan, is displayed. He is the Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan (same status as a King or a Sultan) from 1933-1960. Negeri Sembilan is a state populated by the Minangkabau clan since the 15th Century, led by the Malacca Government at the time.
When the Johor Government (heir to the Malacca Government) weakened in the 18th Century. the Minang people asked for protection from the Sultan of Johor. The request was granted and they returned to their place of origin in Pagaruyung to request protection from the Pagaruyung rulers at the time.
The King of Pagaruyung sent his son, Raja Mahmud (Raja Melewar) to become the first King of Negeri Sembilan (declared as Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan). [Raja Pagaruyung menghantar anaknya, Raja Mahmud (Raja Melewar) sebagai raja di Negeri Sembilan yang pertama (bergelar yang Di-Pertuan Besar Negeri Sembilan).]
Tuanku Abdul Rahman, the Sultan depicted in the Malaysian currency notes is the fifth generation descendant of Sultan Abdul Jalil, the Raja Kecil from Pagaruyung. [Tuanku Abdul Rahman yang gambarnya ada di mata wang Malaysia itu adalah keturunan ke lima dari Sultan Abdul Jalil, Raja Kecil dari Pagaruyung.]
I used to remember seeing the following note (RM1000) and drool. It is no longer in circulation, and I suspect it is now a collectors' item.
Where's the picture? You've waited long enough... here it is:

Time: 7:33pm
Date: 5th June 2012
Place: Masjid Kristal, Kuala Terengganu, Terengganu
Occasion: Solat Maghrib
Description: We decided to drop by the Masjid Kristal (Crystal Mosque) on our way back home. It was beautiful in daylight, but at night time, it gives a different look... all mystical. Unfortunately I do not have a great camera (yet!) to capture some of the moments in my life, but I do own a Blackberry (thanks to JHEP, UUM) with a decent camera (decent for non-moving pictures!). So here is the result of my 'photomanship'.... ;-)
One of the minarets from base-view.
A few steps back.... SNAP!
The Crystal Mosque... close up!
Another angle...
Minarets included...
The other angle...
I must have sneezed when taking this one. Hmmm... after looking back at the pictures above, they are better than I expected. :-)
Time: 11:38am
Date: 5th July 2012
Place: School of Business Management, ITB, Bandung, Indonesia.
Occasion: Conference paper presentation, ICTOM 2012
Description: There we were, just having finished our presentation (which was a success), ready to rendezvous with the driver for some more shopping, when we passed a parked Nissan Juke. This was the first time that I personally saw this model in real life. I like... really, like... if anyone wants to buy it for my birthday, please do so... I'll be your best friend for life! ;-)
Here's a picture of me feeling on top of the world, after surviving a Q&A session about my presentation. Thankfully, I was able to answer all questions. Also, was feeling extra happy, because my Dean walked in just as I finished my session, so no killer questions! :-D
Above is the aforementioned Nissan Juke... all white and shiny! :-D
The sport rims (Malaysian term), in Sydney I used to call them mag wheels...
