Juke... not box!

Time: 11:38am
Date: 5th July 2012
Place: School of Business Management, ITB, Bandung, Indonesia.
Occasion: Conference paper presentation, ICTOM 2012
Description: There we were, just having finished our presentation (which was a success), ready to rendezvous with the driver for some more shopping, when we passed a parked Nissan Juke. This was the first time that I personally saw this model in real life. I like... really, like... if anyone wants to buy it for my birthday, please do so... I'll be your best friend for life! ;-)
Here's a picture of me feeling on top of the world, after surviving a Q&A session about my presentation. Thankfully, I was able to answer all questions. Also, was feeling extra happy, because my Dean walked in just as I finished my session, so no killer questions! :-D
Above is the aforementioned Nissan Juke... all white and shiny! :-D
The sport rims (Malaysian term), in Sydney I used to call them mag wheels...
Self-taken shot of me and the Juke!
 Front-side view.
 Back-side (?!!!!) view.
The badge... :-D

"Where have you been Mr. Faisal?"

What happened? Oh my... I don't know, I guess real-life kinda blind-sided me and all of a sudden, too many things to do and too little time to do it in. Erm, not to say that I have plenty of time on my hands, but I guess I need to update this Blog once in a while...

So what's been happening? Can't describe them all in detail, but here's a list which I may follow up on in future posts... a preview of sorts in no particular order:

UiTM Convocation: No, I didn't graduate, nobody I know graduated, but there I was, on location in Arau, being the supportive husband (??!?).
A BBQ session with the Assistant Principal... errr... me!
Outing with the business gang to Kuala Perlis.
Miss PROTON night and my DPP.
Performing judging duties at SIPTIK 2012 during STML's Green Open Day.
 STML Grand Dinner.
 Excellent Service Award ceremony.
 AKJ night.
Judging duties during the Survival Chef competition at DPP PROTON.
 Attending a wedding in Asun.
DPP PROTON Grand Dinner night... "World of Cartoon".
Went to pick up the wife, and this was what I saw...
Snorkelling anyone? Family Retreat in Pulau Kapas, Terengganu.
Performing Assistant Principal duties in Golden Flower Hotel, Bandung Indonesia.
I never knew Bukit Bendera existed... until now!
Presenting a research paper at the 3rd ICTOM in Bandung (yes, again).
Class photos for Semester A112 for BJIB3143 class (all groups).

.... and there may be more that I missed, so stay tuned! :-D

2nd ICTOM 2010 Closing Ceremony Script

Now for something different. The 5th of July 2010 was the date for the 2nd International Conference on Technology and Operations Management in Langkawi, Kedah, Malaysia which concluded on the 7th. The following is the actual script that I used as the Master of Ceremonies (MC) for the closing ceremony of the event. Feel free to use it as a guide for your own events. No referring and acknowledgement is required, but it would be really nice. :-D

Announcement 5

Distinguished Guest, ladies and gentlemen

Alhamdulillah,
We have now come to the end of ICTOM 2010,

On behalf of all the committee members and the college, I would like to express my upmost gratitude to all the distinguished guest and members of floor for making this event a success.

For your information, Professor Doctor David John Bennett will be continuing his stay here in Malaysia, and will be giving a professional talk titled, “Excellence in PhD: Survival and Success in Doctoral Years and Beyond” this Thursday the 8th of July, at the Convention Centre in Universiti Utara Malaysia. For those interested, please contact our secretariat for further information.

Also, would the participants please collect their certificates before leaving this conference venue, as well as leave the feedback form with the secretariat. If you haven’t, then there are extra forms available for you to fill.

Now, I would leave you with a quote by Stewart Brand, an author and innovative thinker, who once said, “We can see the past but not influence it, we can influence the future but not see it”.

Let us all be guided by all the things we have learned and heard throughout the conference and be able to see AND influence our future.

Thank you, Thank You and Thank You very much and before we part, please accept this verse from me:

“KALAU ADA JARUM YANG PATAH
Jangan disimpan di dalam peti
KALAU ADA SILAP DAN SALAH
Harap sudi maafkan kami”

Which roughly means, please forgive us for our shortcomings.

Till we meet again, perhaps in the next conference, may all of you have a safe journey home.

Thank you and Assalamualaikum.
